Has anyone heard of this legend?

I recently saw a movie that had a lot of symbolic references. One of which was a HUMAN shape shifted in UV light into a four legged reptile with wings. Similar to a DRAGON, not really sure it was a dragon though. My question is. Has anyone ever heard of any legend pertaining to the kind of shape shifting i just explained above? Maybe it is not a legend? Please answer if you have any real info on this matter. any kind of reference, books/website, that anyone might know is definitely tons of help in my quest of study.
