What do you think of my story idea?

Sounds really good. One thing you might want to add is some internal conflict for Becky to overcome. It is usually not enough to overcome an external foe such as the water creatures (although I would keep them). Becky needs to learn something and overcome some internal struggle. For example, maybe she is partially to blame for the invasion and must overcome the weakness or mistake that caused it. Good luck and good writing.
