What kind of a gift should i get him?

i just met this guy not too long ago. there is big chemistry between us. he invited me to the movies this friday, and it just so happens that it's his birthday that day. i don't wanna show up with nothing lol. what should i get him? i have no idea what would be suitable. i don't know exactly what he likes just yet. i'm looking for something cute and symbolic. any help?
