What do American's think about Britain's History?

I think Americans are smart enough not to make generalizations about the history of any nation. We recognize the good and evil that are in every nation's historical record. The fact that much of our heritage comes from England (like our language and common law system), and that we have been allies since WW1 probably tilts us towards the impression of England as a "good" country, although some Irish Americans might disagree with that statement.
