Mayan, Aztec, Incan civilization?

Did the ancient americans created these civilizations themselves or were there any outside influences? The scientific, sociological and philosophical aspects that scientists studied about the ancient american civilizations are too similar to the other "Old World" cultures to be independent developments. Even their Gods and general mythology seem to be similar, they even have a "great flood" story.
