Ques on syllables for haiku! answer ASAP!!?

I guess the TRADITIONAL way the Japanese did it was 5.7.5, but poetry is free, you know, so if you want to keep the idea of syllables, but make the number bigger or smaller for each line, go ahead...think of it as an extended haiku =)
